1⁄35IDF Doher SPH

The base kit is the AFV Club M109A2 with the Legend conversion in resin and etch. The conversion is extremely detailed and up to the usual high standard for Legend. Combined the kits give a good, accurate interpretation of IDF’s Doher self propelled howitzer. The figure is from the Meng IDF crew set.
The kit is primed using automotive primer, in the UK I use one from Halfords. I know there is much debate over the correct colour for sand grey. I prefer to use Lifecolor Israeli grey. Once filters are done with various oil paints it tones the color completely down. I then did a final wash with burnt umber, and finished the model off with Mig pigments to give it an overall ‘dusty’ look.

First of all, this is a superb model. Well done!
Did you use the kit tracks or aftermarket?
Why did you paint all of the rear headlights lenses red?
Any issues with the Legend resin conversion? I am planning to do the same build as you and want to know if you had any problems.
Did you use any other aftermarket stuff?
Thanks in advance, great work

Thankyou for your kind words.
The rear lights are a mistake on my part. I must of misinterpreted a photo when I did the kit a couple of years ago. I will correct them so that only the top half is red. It’s something I’ve never really noticed.
The legend kit is excellent and fits well to the AFV base kit. As normal with legend there is clean up to do but that’s fairly minimal. I didn’t need to use any other items except wire etc from the spares box.
The tracks are the kit tracks. I don’t tend to go for aftermarket tracks with modern AFVs because there isn’t much sag at all on them. Plus the tracks in the kit look okay to me. They paint up well and the only really sag you get is between the drive sprocket and the first wheel.
I hope that answers your questions. Anything else please just ask?
Regards
Chez
