Chad made some models as a kid, and for Christmas purchased one to work on together with his boys. As it turns out, Chad did it all, and it reignited his interest in the hobby. When he saw all the awesome kits/dioramas being put together on the website he wanted to give it a go, and this is his first big effort!

The vehicles are from Tamiya, and the figures are a mix of Tamiya, Dragon, Stalingrad and Soga Miniatures. Chad says he definitely enjoyed the Soga and Stalingrad figures, but they are more costly.

Chad used AK interactive for mud and some weathering effects on the vehicles, and some Vallejo chipping effects on them as well. He primarily used Tamiya paints as they are more available in the city he is in, but he also have some Vallejo and AK interactive paints. Basically the vehicles were airbrushed in Tamiya paints and the figures hand painted in mostly Vallejo acrylics.

Chad scratch built the bridge using a reference photo he found on the internet.

Water was made with Woodland scenic deep pour with water ripples applied on top. This was nerve racking for Chad as there really isn’t a lot of information on the internet on how to in a diorama. What he could find is mostly Rail Road related and he wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but I think everyone will agree it came out quite well! The intent was to depict a muddy river during summer when the water level is low.

The groundwork is a mixture of soil and glue/ paint for the land areas and combined in small stones to help get a realistic effect. There is also some vegetation material from Model Scene that is really nice to work with and pretty realistic. Also some leaf litter thrown in there too from Green Stuff World.
