US Tractor

Currently Piet is at stage 57 of 77 steps with Miniarts US Tractor with dozer blade. He reports that the model is outstanding in detail and fitting. Some of the tiny handles/connection rods are replaced by copper wire for better handling. Pieter is building this as a version used by the Korean Army at the Bong Son area abandoned in the fields somewhere. He will be giving it a faded orange/red finish to represent post military commercial use with the old paint and rust showing through.

Pieter has modified the original seats to show the expected wear and tear by first removing most of the seating, filled it with green putty and while still pliable he fitted, previously prepared lead foil to represent the original seat cover. After that he made dents, scratches and holes with a hobby knife and painted it with Tamiya paints, oils, dry brushing, repeating this process after drying. For fun he added some grass growing on one of the cushions. He represents the rust by basecoating with Tamiya hull red followed by Tamiya light blue followed by chipping using the hairspray method. Pieter has more bottles of Hull Red to be used to obtain varying shades and colors to represent different rust colors. .
