The Passage

After seeing this very impressive film "Al Mamar" (the passage) release in June 2019 with great success in the box office in Egypt and Arab countries I've decided to make a diorama inspired by the final scene of the movie.

This would become a very unusual diorama featuring Egyptian Soldiers on an IDF tank as in the final scene of the movie Egyptian soldiers use a captured M60 to cross through IDF lines. For the tank model I used Tamiya's M60A3 and converted it. The figures also were converted from several WWII figures sets and each figure given specific items to relate to each of the movie characters, for example the sniper character holding the sniper rifle covered by fabric and the war photographer character which was a bit overweight carrying his camera and films bag and so on for other figures.

The Tamiya kit was quite pleasant to assemble and most of the modification for IDF version I already found in the extra parts of the kit box. The stowage idea was also very interesting putting Egyptian stowage such as bags and supplies on IDF tank. The diorama base was made of a simple foam sheet covered with AK sand paste and using "bark" pieces to create the stone effect which always comes out very realistic. At the end I covered to entire assembly with acrylic cover with a backdrop of the movies poster.

This has been one of the dioramas I enjoyed most making especially with the challenge to try and modify 1/35 characters to match real life actors. I hope you enjoy it.
