I would comment on picture 2. The sleeping bags may be compressed in a different manner by indivudal crewman. Not unusual that they would be of different dimensions. Also, one could portray the sleeping mats as the standard issue one and the larger one as a commercial one. I personally never used the issued one depending on one I brought at a sporting goods store. My two cents.

But these sleeping bags in the set are packed into the carrying bags and details of these carrying bags are clearly different size (e.g. circular bottom of the bag), so this isn't a matter of different compression of actual sleeping bag inside. But indeed these could represent larger commercial sleeping bags.

IIRC, there are two differant size sleeping bags and covers. Tamiya also has two differant sized sleeping bags with the M2a2 ODS kit. I think Legends is correct.

You are right, I just checked and indeed in the M2A2ODS kit are two sizes of sleeping bags - if the larger one is really a sleeping bag. It is approximately the same size as parts in Legend set. So you think that larger one is a different type of US Army issue bag? Or both Tamiya and Legend wanted to include a commertial type?

I already wrote that details on carrying bag (or sack as you probably more correctly called it) are different size on these parts. If these sacks are so elastic to stretch by about 50% in all directions, then indeed it can be a matter of sleeping bag compression. Otherwise it is just different type of sleeping bag, and having both Legend and Tamiya parts in front of me right now I'm definitely more likely to believe in that version.

The stuff sack is quite elastic and can be shrunk down quite a bit with the compression straps. I don't know why they would show a civilian bag since all soldiers are issued the same Gortex bag and stuff sack. I have never seen anyone have a civilian one instead. Legend probably based theirs on the two Tamiya bags. Tamiya probably just got it wrong, it wouldn't be the first time.

DJ is talking about the sleeping mat. It is common to see civilian sleeping mats, especially Coleman ones that fill with air. The issue one sucks. The issue Gortex sleeping bag is great though.

Not really sure how recent this set is......but I know I have had it for over a year. And I will confess that it is a really, really nice set.

Funny thing is, I never noticed the battle damage!! LOL.
