Yep, another 1st timer submitting his photos for your approval or disapproval. This is the ESCI kit with MasterClub wheels and tracks, ModelPoint late production turret. i added the wires to both IR searchlights, and made the actuating rods from the coaxial light to the main gun. Hopefully these images loaded.

This is probably the longest running 1 person forum, but I'm not giving up, just yet.

Glad to see you finally were able to get the pictures up.
Nice work, and I like the base.

Thanks Jacques, I think the base is from a company called Realistic ? I usually have trouble with my bases (celluclay) peeling/lifting, so I thought I would try a premade base. I hope these other photos load

I think it came out well. I've got one of these assembled and waiting for paint -you've given me a nice idea on a good looking scheme.

Thanks Scott, I don't understand why when I check back on this Forum the pictures don't show up, with the exception of the last one. Any advice?

Thats them, Thanks Jacob. I tried following the directions provided but I ended up putting them in a Ship Gallery. I think before I could remove them someone else did. Which then may make them show up as the red "X's". I should just stick with the simple ways. I obviously dont work in IT.

I just went through and fixed a few of the links...you did ok, just the wrong folder before, as you noted.
When you upload the pictures, just put them in your personal folder. You can "migrate" them to another folder if necessary after the fact, with the help of a Moderator if need be. No need to make yourself feel uncomfortable when we are here to offer help! We just want to see the pictures and hear about the work you have done, not see if we can make you a IT weenie!
So, what are you doing next?

Thanks Jacques, I was on a modern Russian kick for awhile until I ran into the T-80 from DML/Svezda. That took the wind right out of my sails. I had completed a T-72BM from Miniarm, and once you are at that level and then go down to the early DML/Svezda its tough. I completed a ZSU 23-4 and a BTR-ZD also. Currently though I am building the new DML M-51 Super Sherman. I plan to incorporate it in a dio with Academy's M-51, and a shot up BRDM 2. So the "size matters" issue might come up because the 2 muzzlebrakes are very different. But I think it will be interesting. I am having a slow start back into because I was at 11BMOSQ school for 2 weeks and I havent recovered yet.

Nice BMP-2. Good job on the camouflage. The base adds a nice dimension to the model and adds more realism.
From where did you get the base?

Thanks, the base is from Masterpiece Models. It was truly a nice piece, easy to paint, weather. It was a nice change to go from Celluclay peeling up/lifting, to just add paint and and attach your model.

Good job Timothy!
But...how about anti-radiation applique armor on the hull hatches? If it is on turret sides it must be on driver's hatch and crew meber hatch.
Like this....
Hope this helps.
All the best!
Taras.

Taras, Is that a picture of one of your finished models? If it is, very nice! I have a question, is the add-on armor just on the turret and crew hatches only? I don't understand why would you add armor on the crew hatches? Why not the entire hull? I thought in my research of this vehicle that I had seen just the turret on some BMP-2's with additional armor, perhaps I overlooked it on the hatches. But you are in a better position than me to know what is correct. I belive that ModelPoint makes a fully uparmored BMP-2 but at the time I just went with the turret. What is correct? I am interested. Thanks for your help, Tim.

No Tim,
that BMP-2D is not my. My build BMP is on begining. I have no time. It is model from Missing lynx gallery.
....About applique armor ...
Yes... the anti radiation add on armor where just on the turret and crew hatches only It is specificity of the Soviet technology of AFV protection . Other Anti radiation armor were used on inner sides of hull.
All BMP-2 (early) were w/o anti radiation applique armor.
From mid 80's all BMP-2 (late) were with anti radiation applique armor.
And in Soviet army were used BMP-2D (Afghan version) . This vehicle was added with steel applique armor plates. But w/o anti radiation armor.
...And all BMP's 1 and 2 has inner anti radiation armor.
Hope it was understanding.

Taras, Thanks for the info. I guess its not too late to correct my kit. I think its within my abilities, but you definately set me straight. When I build another BMP-2, I will be better prepared. Were the doors behind the turret were also protected in the same way on the outside? Thanks again for your help.
