Just thought I would post some pics of the projects that are currently ruining my social life! AS90 by Trumpeteer with Accurate Armour upgrades and a Tamiya Leclerc with Lionroar barrel and photoetch.

HI

IIRC, UNIFIL LECLERCs do not use the rear fuel barrels.. You may want to check your refs.

I know but I didn't have the heart to take them off! Probably will eventually. Is there any particular reason these were not used? Perhaps an issue of day to day distance covered?

Yup, no need for the fuel barrels due to the limited distances of patrolling. In fact, the Leclercs have been parked and not used for patrols for a couple of months now. Only wheeled AFVs are conducting patrols.

The hull mirrors could also be removed. I can't recall any images of UNIFIL Leclercs with them mounted.

Regarding the painting...the road wheels, idler wheel, drive sprocket, and the entire lower hull area that is covered by the side skirts should still be black...there were giant covers applied over these parts when the tanks were painted white. The rubberized portions of the sideskirts were also removed during the painting and should remain black.

I take it the upper turret is not glued to the lower turret....there are huge misaligning gaps along the entire right side.

Sounds like a great social life to me. I try to do the same when the wife and kids have been hosed down, painted and parked up for the night.

Ummm.........

I'll be watching the AS90 build with great interest. I see that AA seem to be the only ones that get the "barrel sag" correct.

Thanks again Jason. No I haven't glued the turret yet. I couldn't find clear pictures of the lower hull to see the exact colour so I assumed it would be white, but thanks for clearing that up. I'm glad the mirrors aren't needed they just don't look quite right. Oh well, back to the airbrush!

As for the AS90 I was a little diappointed to be honest with the update. Firstly the cost, fourty five pounds, and secondly some parts arrived broken. (although to their credit Accurate Armour are sending replacements). I've never really used resin before so was shocked to see bent parts and lots of flash. When I was cleaning flash from shovels etc they just bent from the heat off my fingers! The replacement Accurate Armour tracks however are fantastic and for ten pounds you won't find better. I really want to build their urban camo chieftain but after this I just can't justify the cost.

I think the lower hull is probably a dark color. I know the road wheels are black and were never painted white. The rubber part of the side skirts were also not painted.

The AS-90 looks nice. Got plans for something similar myself. Keep us posted.
