Greetings all,
A couple of questions on the Churchill AVRE Mk I
Did 79th Armd Div supply all the support tanks for the Canadians On D Day? I'm sure I read that they did. Does anyone have any pictures of the vehicle markings.
I have the Resicast Conversion kit and some deep wading gear. Is there anything else I'd particularly need to watch out for? I'd prefer to use the kit tracks if they are OK, help keep the cost down.
Interested in vehicles that landed on Nan Red if anyone has any specific pics great.
Any other revelant Churchill stuff would be much appreciated.
One other question. Does any one make spare Boggies for the Churchill? According to British Tanks in Normandy page 127 two were carried upright on the AVREs that landed on D Day.
Cheers
Al

Hi Folks,
Looking at the parts necessary for this conversion I am very surprised Tamiya never bothered to do a plastic version of the AVRE Churchilll.
For a little effort they could have had another neat kit for their range. Still market forces and all that, sad though.
Cheers

Some progress short and some questions.
Did the turret sit so high above the hull. From the Resicast instructions it would appear so?
I hope I've got the bits in the right place as I don't have a great range of pics to reference from.

As the 79th was the only division equipped with any of the funnies, they would have suported everyone on D-Day. I don't have my references handy, so I'm afraid I can't help with the markings, sorry.

Hi Paul,
Thanks that's what I thought, and have since checked up on.
On Juno, 4 Troops from B Sqn, 22 Dragoons (52 - Flails) and 12 Crabs from A Sqn Westminster Dragoons (53 - Flails)) plus 26th and 80th Assault Sqn of 5th Assault Regiment ( 1233 - AVRE) landed in support of the Canadian 3rd InF Div..
So thats one probelm/issue solved.
Cheers
