Do I need to apply a wash, drybrush, etc if I'm going to cover my tank in a whitewash?

All depends on what kind of finish you are after...if you are looking for a "barely there" white wash, then perhaps yes before hand would be required. If you are going for more of a complete whitewash, then doing those steps afterwards might be more helpful towards your final finish.

Sure it would be good to dirty up the whitewash not letting the white be to white.
