Hi guys,

I've got the Dragon Flak 38 kit and i'm bemused by a small addition to the kit.
In step 1 of the instructions you are told to put parts A32 and A33 together to create a small device that is seperate from the gun. As to what it is i've no idea. My best guess is it was used for putting the 20mm rounds into their magazines but i'm not sure. Can anyone shed any light on the subject?
Does anyone have a reference pic of this gadget that I can refer to?

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

James

James,

Glad to see I wasn't the only one perplexed by this...it's constructed in the very first step and never appears again. I've searched through photos trying to see if something like it was present in the "in action" photos of Flak 38s and came up empty.

Found this from a link on the Dragon Models USA site:

"Nice touches overall include the provision of accessories for the gun such as the aforementioned gun case, two ammo cases with magazines, and a gizmo (!) which I am guessing is a loading device for filling magazines."

Someone else who is similarly bemused! This is from Cookie Sewell's review of the kit. Seems he was thinking along the same lines as myself.

Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone?

Please?

I'll try and get a photo of the part/instructions, perhaps that will help those of you who dont have the kit!

James

My guess (just a guess, mind you) is an ammo loader or holder of some kind.... either that or a pasta machine.....lol.

This part is in the DML 2cm kit as well. Look at this previous post.....:

I'll look at google over the next few days to see if I can find a stray pic or two.

EDIT: I found a review of the 88mm flak 38 kit on Missing-Lynx and this is a quote from the review"

"There is also another option, that of either a folded-away ramming assist bar and deleted shell tray, or an extended bar with the tray in place for use."

Could be the so-called "deleted shell tray".....thare's part of the answer I guess......

Thanks Bob,

I think the general consensus of a speed loader is the way to go. Just not sure whether to include it in my scene or not ?

Thanks for all the help and please keep the suggestions flooding in!

My thoughts on this part when I built this kit was perhaps it was for magazines to sit on next to the loader. The magazines would be placed there after they were filled and so the loader would have ready use ammunition at hand. just my guess at this mystery.
