Just curious when the British army finally phased out the use of Flimsies in favour of Jerry Cans.
Thx.

As quickly as possible! From my research on the LRDG the flimsies proved to be hoplessly flimsy when it came to long distance desert travel - The seams usually cracked, no matter how carefully the cans were packed in their crates, and the screw-caps were prone to leaking. Flimsies were rarely returned and usually ended up being used as improvised ovens or were dumped as soon as they were empty. The LRDG had mostly replaced the flimsies with captured German jerrycans by mid 1941; through 1942, as supplies of the American versions became available, the flimsy disappeared almost completely.
In other, more remote theatres (eg: Burma), which were often a low priority in the supply chain, and where there were no German jerrycans to use, flimsies stayed on a lot longer.
