I've just started building Dragons T-34 mod. 41. has anyone else here built this kit and if you have how does it build up. Thanks in Advance.

Mine built up nicely with few fiddly bits (IIRC the major problem for me was the left and right engine grills, which took some trimming to fit properly, but nothing major). I did replace the DML track with friul track. Of course I'm talking about the 1/35th kit.

Nice kit. For a while it was probably the nicest model OOB. Now with all the Dragon and Trumpeter and Tamiya stuff there are some others. Overall the only trouble is the engine grill mesh. HTH, Dmitry

thanks for the replies. out of curiosity what is the problem with the engine grill mesh? I used the kit supplied photo etch and it went together like a dream. Is it an accuracy issue? i don't really know T-34s that well.

He may have been thinking about the Model 1940, which came only with the solid plastic engine screens (newer T-34 boxings include photoetch parts as well, now). There should be two transverse hinged slats across the opening right under the grill, which can be made from styrene sheet (though some kits and most photoetch aftermarket sets now include them).

I've been looking at pictures of T-34's in Concords Russian Tanks in Combat and I've noticed that many of the model 41's didn't have the external fuel tanks. How common was it for these fuel tanks to be removed?

Check out my SU-100 BLOG and you will see the area under the grill mesh that needs the two "flaps". 2 simple evergreen pieces will fix it right up.

Having seen the stuff about the engine grill, I remembered that, lacking an engine, I painted a piece of sheet styrene black and put it under the grill.

It is not hard to make the Engine Louvers.

Only two pieces of thin plastic sheet cut and 4 pieces of wire superglued on and a tiny bit flattened and presto painted after gluing down .

this what I did on my T-34
