Hi Fellas,
does somebody know, if the sides of the hull and the road wheels of the Leclerc are also painted white for the tanks which are in UN service?
And are the only markings the UN symbols, or also division markings and license plates?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks, Nils

apparently all the lower hull including wheels remain black.( Huge sheets where placed when they were painted white. I'm not sure about markings although UN Leclerc decals are available. Search Getty images under 'UNIFIL Leclerc'. I asked a similar question for my build and Jason helped with the following:
Leocmdr:
Regarding the painting...the road wheels, idler wheel, drive sprocket, and the entire lower hull area that is covered by the side skirts should still be black...there were giant covers applied over these parts when the tanks were painted white. The rubberized portions of the sideskirts were also removed during the painting and should remain black
The UNIFIL Leclerc decals are produced by Echelon Fine details.
Hope this helps:0)

The lower sides of the hull covered by the side skirts, road wheels, idler wheel, drive sprocket, and rubber side skirt portions all remained black on the UNIFIL Leclercs.
Some of the Leclercs appear to have small additional markings above the UN markings and registration licence plates. I have not been able to see any detail images of the unit markings. About a month or two into the UNIFIL tour the Leclercs also started having a UNIFIL registration plate attached to the lower portion of the large closed stowage bin on the turret rear.

Steven & Jason,
thanks for your help. Now the question about the painting is cleared.
For the markings, I will look for the manufactor of the decals.
Thanks again!
