Which companies make a 1/35 scale plasitc model of the T-60 light tank? And which one is the best?
Thanks

Hey Kevin,
Zvezda used a produce a kit of the T-60, #T3501 and Modelcraft in Vancouver used to rebox the kit, #35-9010.
I actually have one of each sitting in my stash.
The kit's pretty horrible, the detail's basic and the cannon barrel is best replaced with a piece of brass tubing.
However, unless there's another manufacturer that does a T-60, it's the only game in town.
I'm not sure if either kit is still available but I believe the molds are still being used out there somewhere.
Try contacting Bob at Sealand Imports in Burnaby, B.C., they carry the Modelcraft line.
Cheers

Thanks, I'll give him a call. I would have liked a good kit, but I'll take anything as I plan to scratch build a lot of extras onto it anyway. And for my project, the armament was removed anyway, so the barrel is no problem.

Hi Kevin, there is definitely another kit out there. I forget the maker now. Maybe Techmod. It seems much nicer in details and comes with a bunch of etched parts and good indi link tracks. It comes up on EBay sometimes. I do not know who sells it. HTH, Dmitry

It looks like Maquette and RPM have T-60 kits:
http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?MAQ-3506

I'll bet you that the Maquette kit's the same mold as the Zvezda/Modelcraft kit.

No, no, no!!! There are two T-60 molds out there. Avoid the Zvezda POS at all costs. It was their first armor kit ever, and is as bad in its own way as Alan's execrable SU-76.
The Maquette kit is much more reasonable. Not a great kit, but it's like most of the eastern European kits of the last 15 years. It has link to link styrene track (some boxings include two sets of slightly different tracks). Most recent boxing also includes a set of photoetch. The RPM kit is the same but without the photoetch.

I agree, the RPM kit is the best and the Zvezda kit normally ends up on the top 10 list of worst kits.

Hey Guys,
Good to hear that!!!
Like I said earlier, the Zvezda kit is HORRIBLE and I was unaware that the Maquette, Techmod or RPM kits were a different "kettle of fish".
The way that Zvezda, Alan, Mirage, etc..... trade or loan molds, you never know what you're getting until you crack open the box.
And we don't see many of the Maquette, Techmod or RPM kits at the LHS here in Vancouver B.C. so it's a bit of a gamble to order them online.
Thanks for the heads up!!!
Cheers

IIRC RPM's kit of the T-60 also has PE in it. AeroPlast also does a T-60.
EDIT: Forgot, here's a good article: "Building and Improving Aero Plast's T-60 light tank"

Thanks to all for the responses.
I'll probably go with the Maquette, Techmod or RPM kits. Im just doing a little pre-planning in case the Oddballs camapign gets approved. If it does I would like a decent T-60 as a base for this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-40
