Operation "SPLASH"
ENROLLMENT LINK:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Campaigns&file=index&req=showcontent&id=7
The Rules and Regs
DATES: March 15 - May 16 (Midnight).

PERIOD: 1900's onward... (ie, WWI, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm,
Bosnia, etc.).

SCENE: At least one CIVILIAN and one SOLDIER (no more than 4 figures total).
FEATURE: There must be a clear and visible body of water (well, ditch, pond,
fountain, etc.)
PRICE: No more than $30 US may be spent on the total diorama.
Comments / Special Notes:
-No portion of the scene may extend beyond the border of the base.
-Water must be visible - not insinuated... if you have a "well" we want to
see the water!
-Civilian requirement can be in any capacity - as long as the person is clearly not a soldier
-Soldier can be of any army, rank, or capacity -as long as they are clearly military personnel
-5 photos per entry maximum, and limit of one entry per member
-open to any registered member of Armorama.com
-each submission must have a TITLE and accounting of actual itemized COSTS.
-Items which are scratchbuilt must be idenditifed as such.
- Winner will be determined by PEOPLES CHOICE, which will run for 30 days via online POLL
One entry per person, to be constructed during the campaign time. No previously assembled or painted elements are allowed. We shall try to build and paint new figures, and build a water feature showing water. Many members never tried to make water before, and the purpose of this diorama is to discuss the water element and help everyone to make a water feature in a convincing way.
At the Armorama group at MSN will be created an album for the campaign where
all the participants could upload the images taken during the campaign. Use
link above.
At the end of the time frame each entrant will send five photos of the
complete dio, to be part of the campaign album and that will prove he had
complete the campaign.

This will become the single most exciting diorama event of this sping.
I'm all buckled up and ready to roll.
About practical matters :
- who will set up the dedicated pictures page on MSN ? Jim ? Keith ? Danny ? (I wouldn't know how to ...
- we would like to ask everyone who wishes to discuss his own diorama or other ideas in this campaign, NOT to do it in THIS post, but to set up a new separate post in this diorama folder.
- when you open a post about your diorama, please make the title as follows :
"SPLASH - subject title". This will allow people to see right away which threads are related to the diorame campaign.
Now let's do it !

LOL ! Take a number and queue up, Keith. Yodaman is at this moment the single most wanted person on the face of the planet Tatooine. He'll spend the rest of his days in the cellars of Jabba the Hut if he doesn't finish his science-fiction diorama before the end of this month. And him being a dynamic young man and all that, I have an itsy pitsy feeling he's got some other projects on the backburner, too.

I take it the Warship timetable will be shifted for this campaign....
I'm in que for the warship campaign, but pending the time table I'm putting myself on stand-by for this one...

I don't know if I should be honored... or scared! #:-)
Hunter, I don't know about the dates with the campaigns... Looks like they'll take place at the same time, with the warship event ending two days earlier.
From the sign-up lists, it looks like two people are doing both.
...and I might be insane enough to try it!
But for now, I'd better finish my entry for the sci-fi campaign - or else!

i am giving both the warship, and the dio campaigns ago at the same time. i figure while i am waiting for one to dry set and so on i can work on the other one. it should be nice and crazy!!
I will be ok so long as i dont mix the pieces up. a 1/35 foot hanging of the bridge of 1/700 ship wouldn't go down well with the ship guys, it might not be historically correct.
or maybe i could combine the campaigns and have two soilders and a civilian controling a big R/c warship..
Cheers,
Paul

I have already participated the following campaigns :
- dio 1
- figures 1
- sci-fi 1
and currently I'm enrolled in
- dio 2
- figures 2
I decided NOT to participate in the ships campaign and the airports campaign.
Finally, I still half hope to finish my entry for the current unofficial "pigs" campaign.
But with the war on Iraq on the agenda, my next weeks agenda before holiday may be really crammed full. Anything big happening in the world reflects immediatly on my job...

All right, count me in. I think I can handle doing both the WWII figure campaign and this one. We shall see...
One question though, can there be a vehicle in this dio? Something like a bike or a motorcycle or is this strictly a figure diorama?

Sure... there is nothing in the rules that say you can't! Just make sure you have CIVILIAN(s), SOLDIER(s) and WATER!!!!

As far as the $30 limit goes...Does this include things I may already have at home like plaster of paris and static grass or is this only for items I will buy on top of what I already have? I am just a bit confused about that.

Marty
Based on the last diorama campaign the cost of materials at home are estimated in in the following fashion.
Using 1 figure from a set of 4 that cost $8 is $2 toward the diorama cost.
1/2 of a box of plaster paris that cost $4 is $2 toward the diorama cost if you purchased it for the contest.
Things like scrap balsa wood you have laying around are $0.
Paint is no cost
If you snag something from the kitchen like a tea bag - no cost.
If you look at Fausts article on his great dio from the first campaign it has great information, on page 7 it has how he broke out the cost.
