Thanks,

I might be a little behind on this but is their any difference in them?
I thought they got the same tank we had A piece of well won't say it on a Family website.

The Sovs got shipments of M3s, M3A3s and M3A5s. Like any tank, there were modifications and upgrades made during their production series. Photographic evidence shows a broad range of "early" "mid" and "Late" features in the most numerous subvariant, the M3. If you're starting with the Academy kit, there are photos that show it in Soviet service basically just OOB.
Upgrades would be to remove the side hull hatches, install the longer M3 75mm cannon, differing suspension bogies -- but these aren't necessary. If you want to convert to M3A3 or M3A5, these are larger conversions (no kits exist except a Cal35 engine deck). Contact me offsite if you'd be interested (I'm accumulating parts and info on producing an M31B1).
Good luck to you.

Mark,
The only real fix that will make a noticeable difference would be to replace the bogies. There was a dimensional snafu and they are the wrong height. The best thing to do with Academy kit is to get the Legends "update" set which replaces most of the kit! It's US$45 from Luckymodel.com with free shipping.
Bulding either the M3A3 or M3A5 is not without its challenges. I built an M3A3 a couple of years ago and it was quite complex. But, if you are hell-bent on building one, here are some of the pictures of mine:
Here's what the finished model looks like:

If you want detail pictures, drop me a line and I'll send you the pics I took in Rio de Janeiro of the actual vehicle.
Regards,
Georg
