Hello,

Is there any good OOB kit of M5A1 Stuart in 1/35? The one made by Tamiya seems to be 30 years old and according to many is not any more up to current standards. Steven Zaloga mentiones some more in his modelling guide published by Osprey in 2003. Those are however all M3s. Is there any new M5A1 in past let's say 4 years?

Thanks

As stated, no.

You could combine the Formations M5A1 with the AFV Club M3A3, or update the Tamiya kit. The release date for the AFV Club M5A1 is imminent..

Oh, that was fast... Does anybody know the current release date. An announcement elsewhere on this forum says February 2007.

Also, please forgive my ignorance, what the 'early production' of AFV M5A1 refers to in terms of differencies?

Yea AFV club will be releasing one in the very near future so if you want the most accurate. If you don;t feel like doing some serious surgery and kitbashing avoid Tamiyas and just wait.

No I have asked the same thing. For some reason its been delayed or pushed back. While we continue in the meantime to get flooded with10 zillion German half track variants, we can't seem to get much news on one single American light tank. From what I have been hearing though is that the release should be "soon".

Early M5A1 tanks did not have the curved gunshield on the right side of the turret or the stowage basket on the hull rear. That means they can use their M3A3 turret unchanged for the first release. Presumably a late variant will follow if sales justify it.
As for release dates, AFV Club is a much smaller business concern than Dragon or Trumpeter, and it apparently takes them a long time to build up the capital to cut new molds. We should count our blessings--at least they release kits faster than Tasca and Bronco do.
