Got a chance to climb all over an M113 and take some photos. It was a good day.
It was the first chance I've had to get inside an m113.

Is this vehicle used for tatical purposes, Or is it just some kind of public relation thing. As a former Tatical officer I can see the value in a armored assault vehicle. I just don't think the 1113 would be a good choice. Thanks for the pics though. Any chance to pick up more reference is aways a good thing.

Sadly, Ft. McClellan fell victim to the BRACC a few years back. AAD is still operational. They just received a contract to build some type vehicle hyped as "IED proof". I'm sure someone knows more about what type vehicle that may be.
The 113 is used as a tactical vehicle. They also have an M557. Both vehicles were obtained through this program

Yes the tracks are rubber.
The running gear also sports a rubber "shoe" over the drive sprocket as well as a split rear idler. The vehicle also had an aftermarket airconditioner unit inside the rear compartment.

nice closeup on that track. Oughta hold up on the hard surface without damage better than standard track. I'm sure somewhere out there there are folks licking their chops at making models of these two puppies.

Just imagine; opening your trailer house door to find a M113 parked in your drive with many men, dressed in black, coming to your door to serve a search warrent.

Looks like the standard track on the M577.
