searching my references for my actual builds I found a curious thing about some drawings of KV-1. I focused on the front hull part, because I wanted to figure out, how the horn and the light was attached...
I found this one as front view of the tank in militaria's issue 168 (Arkusz 4):

So far so good. And now for the top view:

Please focus your attention at the tube, containing the wires to the horn and light.

Ups! What's that? The top view shows the tube running down to the middle of the horn, whereas on the front view, it runs down to the middle between horn & light. As a former mechanical engineer, I must comment "bad technical drawing, bad 3-dimensional rendering"... Not that good.
OK, one might say, this book is from 2002 and in between(2005) we've got the superb tankograd books, so let's have a look at their efforts:
Front view (KV-1, late Variants, pg 30):

Hmmm... and now the top view (pg.31)

Not to be misunderstood: I own both books and I would buy them again, no doubt.
But I don't think that judging kits by 2-3 mm to wide/short related to such drawings, hence lifting the drawings on a socket where they don't fit in, doesn't do justice not to the kit nor the drawing!
Just my 2 cents on drawings and how they shouldn't be used.
