I don't normally post here, but wow that's really amazing.

How did you get the waves to look so real?

Thanks Luke!
Well, i first did a master with plaster and Magic Sculp for the details of the waves, then i did a silicon latex mold -the water itself is some polyester resin -the stinky kind.
for the foam I used some polyester transparent gels, the one you find in art shops,
hope it helps

Thanks for the fast replies guys. Reading that article now! I thought I checked all the articles before I asked. I was going to ask if there were any W.I.P pictures but instead there is a whole article!

Thanks again. I love the diorama.

What an incredible diorama. The scene itself is so simple but absolutley amazing. Beautiful water, beautiful woodwork. From one who lives near Cape Cod Massachusetts the wood is perfectly matched to what wood looks like when it is weathered by the sand and ocean.

What? no Panzers!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of diorama is this?

Seriously, JB, Armorama needs to make a "fine art" forum to facilitate your fantastic dioramas.

Cheers,
Charles

Another fantastic diorama!!!! I absolutely love the contrast and colors - great job.

My only critique is what is going to happen in the next 10 seconds? The wave is going to soak the subject. Partly a drawback of exploring at waters edge.

That third shot is really really good. I think this is my favorite one of your 'older works'.

thank you friends for all your nice comments!
About the panzers, the other day i walked in front of a hobby shop in deep burgundy and there was a diorama with a 1/35 Kingtiger, and my diorama complete with boat and sea and sand is roughly as big as a Kingtiger
really, i don't have enough place at home to store dioramas with panzers, the things are way too big

Scott, this is a brand new one, I just finished it a coupla weeks back I've been told this already about the water being a bit high, indeed the boy will have his knees wet on the moment the nearest wave crashes! but no more than that if you look at the last pic

"soul" "art" "creative" "surrealisms", you guys are really making my day

I agree with C. Reading that it would be necessary to create a new category for your dioramas. All they have something special, apart from the superb technical execution, an atmosphere that they cause in my a sensation that to want to know like the history continues, like they arrived the characters, etc there... in summary they are pieces that have " life " beyond the moment that they want to represent.

congratulations for your job and I hope see more in a future

Old - New
Wet knees - dry knees
High wave - low wave

This is still my favorite.
The movement of the diorama and the emotion it creates are great. I never get tired of your projects.

Blockhaus this is very nice what you say - I actually give the figures some names when I work on the diorama and happen to wonder vaguely about their lives when i happen to get a drink late at night and relax in front of them
Scott i am still surprised that this diorama pleases you and others that well: there is no weapons in it, even the pt boat could have been a Portuguese Tuna hunter! (they've got a bit those shapes from what i remember)

Guto there is a lot of techniques involved here - basically the water is tinted polyester resin in a mold, the boat is balsa wood and Magic Sculp painted with Acrylics and pigments, the sand is tainted microballons, maybe you should go there
as there is a massive SBS about it!

Thanks once more friends!

I think the very fact that there are no weapons in it is what makes it so appealing. Almost everyone can relate to playing on beach making sand castles; very few can relate to a Panzer or ducking in a foxhole with an artillery barrage overhead...
