Has anyone built this kit? if so, what are your impressions? I'm considering getting it. It would be my third armor project as well as my first try at photoetch and aluminum.

It seems to be a very good one, especially with all that photoetch, aluminum, and the figure sets.

Thanks

I got that kit, though haven't built it yet, so I can't personally say how it builds up, but from what I've heard, it's a solid modern dragon kit. While very good, it's not without it's flaws. The one you keep hearing all the time is that the hull weld seams are recessed. Not a big deal to glue some stretched sprue to the welds, soften up with liquid glue and texture with a knife.
One other thing is the indi-tracks, people either like or loathe dragon's individual link sherman tracks. Personally, I prefer them individual.
The kit comes with optional duckbills and two kinds of track pads.
That would be a good kit for trying out with PE, since many of the parts are provided in both PE and styrene.

With that price, even better. I remember paying 30€ for it, squadron's price equals around 27€.
And you get a metal gun barrel, a couple of turned ammo shells, PE, plus two figure set.
I'd say get the kit, that value for money is hard to beat.

Two easy to fix inaccuracies are the inclusion of oval "grouser box" covers on the rear corners of the engine deck (these shouldn't be there) and also the spare track holders on the rear are hollow when they should be solid

An easier and more accurate kit is the later suspension DML M4A3E8 HVSS Thunderbolt kit. It fixes the weld seams.

Good luck to you
