I hav seen it's different of the kit (goes up by rotation of the armor).
thanks in advance

The new sight is the ITSS or Improved Thermal Sight System. The DIM36 daysight was moved over to the commnders side of the vehicle...

Salut Driller
Take a look at Brandon Wright's pics on Webshots :

Frenchy,
I've just looked at those pictures and the sights that are there are the old DIM36 with the ballistic cover. These sights are being replaced with the ITSS and the DIM36 (Sight in all of his pictures) is being moved over to the Commanders side. It is getting some additional upgrades as well. Once again the photos show the old system.

OK Andy...But however that may be,the sights included in Trumpeter's kit are not accurate for a "recent" (= first stages of OIF) LAV are they ? Driller has not clearly specified the sight he was talking about. I didn't even know that there was a new device (ITSS) fitted to the LAV (that's the difference between those who are in the know and those who are not )Thanks for the update !

Frenchy,
Sorry, I didn't realize that he was doing a comparison. I thought he was saying that this was the latest configuration. Yes, the sights housings that he is showing came as an improvement after OIF. I will dig through my photos and try and post some of the new configuration shots. I took a look at the existing Trumpeter Cover and is can be modified by adding some plastic stock to the front and adding some bolthead detail.

Now I'm gitting a bit confused : are the sights visible on Brandon's pics OK for an early OIF LAV ? I've got some pics showing LAVs at the beginning of OIF and as far as I can tell, the sights (when they're visible) really look to be the same ones

hello everybody.
first of all, i wish to thank you for your help and your precision.
my project is a lav from task force tarawa at the beginning of OIF.
so, i would make a slep (but not too much...) old tyres, new sight like on the photos from Frenchy and old generation exhaust (without the thermal cowl above).
just a thing, I've bought the echelon decals for the lav...
AMAZING !!!
and, once again, thanks a lot for your help.
for frenchy...

Hi Jason
Very interesting. Are these sights the ones included in Mouse House Enterprise LAV set ?

G'day Frenchy,
No these are mine. They will end up on a ASLAV 25 that may or may not end up as a kit.
Cheers Jason

Jason,
Great looking sights.
Frenchy, Driller,
There are differences between the ASLAV and the USMC when it comes to the sight head assembly. The Marine Corps version of the Gunner Sight Head and sight are different than the picture in Jason's build. The front of the gunners sight has the same cover (Ballistic) as the one on the commanders side. The little square area to the front right of each sight (as your looking at it) is the outside cover for the gyros, which are mounted to the turret roof on the commanders side only (for USMC). I work at the manufacturing facility and do wepons design and integration work.
