I know of the Tiran 5 Conversion by Legends, but are there any other conversion sets out there for the Tamiya T-55? I read in Military Miniatures the Panzer Shop made some (not for the Tamiya kit), but do they, or any other company for that matter, have plans to release conversions for this beast?

Panzershop is supposed to be converting hiw conversion to be based on the Tamiya kit instead of the Trumpeter kit.

I am unsure if SP Designs will do anything more than a couple of T-55 turrets, and they may end up being for the Trumpeter kits.

AEF Designs supposedly has conversions based on the Tamiya kit.

Cromwell has a conversion for the Iraqi "enigma" armor for the Tamiya kit, which is supposed to be a far better kit than the verlinden conversion, both more accurate and easy to assemble.

I bought Panzershop's Kladivo conversion few weeks ago. It was designed for Tamiya kit (and this is NOT a retooled set for ESCI/Lee/Trumpeter kit). I've just finished construction of this model- and my opinion about it is very high.
Also MIG Jimenez is working on 2 sets for Tamiya T-55.

Sorry, but I forgot about one thing:
Comments about Cromwell's Enigma you can find on M-L DG. And opinions about it are very high.

Hi guys,
I`m not sure if any of these conversions are still available or not. A long time ago I purchased the MB Models T-55 Turret that supposedly corrects Esci`s turret but looks suspiciously like a partially completed Esci resin knock-off. Even the white metal barrel is identical. On the other hand I also acquired Verlinden`s T-55A(M) update/superdetail set, #705, and the Iraqi T-55 applique armor kit, #714.Verlinden`s #714, applique armor contains all of whats in their #705 kit plus a ton of resin for the armor. My point is although these kits are all made specificaly for Esci`s T-55, after examining and comparing, I believe they all would fit Tamiyas` . Disregarding the MB kit the Verlinden turret is quit close to Tamiyas`. I would consider Tamiyas turret to be the most accurite and most if not all of Verlinden`s PE and resin add-ons will probably work. Anyway I`ll most likely use #705 on my Tamiya T-55 and #714 on one of my two Esci kits.

Pete,

Few weeks ago Verlinden released a detail set for Tamiya kit. First comments say this is older product of this company with minor changes
Another products designed for Tamiya kit: Blast Models- Tiran conversion, Armo- ammunition and Fine Molds- gun barrel.

Regards,

Michal

Thanks for the advice guys!!! I'm going to build the base model sometime soon, but I was wondering what else was out there to tweak it up a little.
