Hi,
Just thought i'd share some WIP pics of a dio I have been working on.
Basic premise is that a hummel has just nailed it's target and the witnesses are well pleased with them selves.
I still have some groundwork to do - a wash of burnt umber and wildflowers + dullcote
Feedback and suggestions welcome,
Cheers,
AndyD.

Nice overall diorama.
A couple of points - ask yourself how the vehicles got to where they are - did they bend down the grass, dig up the ground? The grass behind the scwimmer should be bent, and the ground right in front of the hummel is a bit squared off and clean underneth.

I have to agree with Scott. It is a great diorama, but a little bent grass behind the vehicles, and maybe some torn up dirt behind the Hummel would add a lot.

Not to beat a dead horse but I agree with the above. Other than that it is a great dio. Great detail all around!

Hi,
thanks for the feedback guys.
The figures are mixture of Tristar, Dragon and DML.
To be precise they are :Tristar SPG Number2, Dragon's SPG and assorted arms and heads from the spares box.
I have added the wash, a few flowers and track marks for both vehicles.
Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Still not 100% happy with the longer grass . That's what I like about this hobby always trying to improve upon your last model, figure , dio.
cheers,
AndyD

Awesome work overall...and the taller grass looks a lot better in the updated pics.

Looks great. A very good job on both vehicles and especially figures.
I feel the diorama could have been smaller and still tell the same story without any "dead space". However, that is a very small nickpick.
Overall a very fine diorama - thanks for sharing

Andy,
Nice dio.
The two figures holding shells, could they be swapped around?
That way the standing figure would be ready to put the shell in the breach and the kneeling figure would be pulling another round out to pass to him, at the moment he seems to have pulled the shell from the center of the vehicle
It just seems they're positioned awkwardly and would have to swap hands on the shells a lot in real life.

Nice overall finish Andy. Great job on painting the badges and tabs on the figs. The fine details make them more interesting.
My only tiny suggestion is that if the Schimmwagen can still be moved I would put it at a slightly off angle versus the Hummel. From a top view both vehicles appear parallel and neatly parked. Like I said its minor though. If it helps paint the tall grass in several shades to give it more depth. Darker at the center and lighter at the sides. If they're to be still alive then dark green in the centre, moving to light green to the sides and a bit of brown at the edges and bottom. If you have intended them to be dried grass then maybe very light green in the centre. Medium brown towards the side and light greyish brown at the edges and base. That should make the tall grass seem more realistic.
Nice composition.
