For the M1A2, I used a base coat of MM Rust, overcoated (in what was basically a heavy drybrush technique) with MM Metalizer Burnt Metal, then painted the rubber pads with Polly S Scale Black. I finished them with a light airbrushed coat of highly diluted Tamiya Buff. Here are the tracks as seen from the side:

And here they are from underneath--you can see a lot more of the rust color from this angle (as well as some of my sloppy painting).

For the M113 tracks, I instead used MM Metalizer Dark Anodized Gray as the base coat, buffed lightly on the high points. I then painted the rubber pads with the same Polly S Scale Black I used the for the Abrams. I finished the tracks off with a black oil wash. I will also give this track the same light coat of thinned Tamiya Buff I used on the Abrams track later on. Here is the view from the side:

And here is the view from below (note that the segment to the left was not given the oil wash, so it looks lighter in color).
