A couple of weeks ago I spent a few days (not long enough!) touring the Normandy beaches. At the Utah Beach Museum there was this diorama which was in 1/35 scale. It must have measured 10'x10'. Although the fine detail wasn't as good as we see in the best works displayed here, as a single huge piece it was very impressive. It tried to show the different stages of the landing, from the first assault to the later landings of re-enforcements.
I'm sorry about the quality of the pics, I had to take them through glass with a flash. However, I was sure people would want a least a taster of this huge project.

Sorry mate - those were all the pics I got and I'm back home in England now. If I ever go back I'll see what I can do!

Ok, Im even more impressed now. My eye was drawn to the ground action, I missed the aircraft suspended in the first photo.

Yeah, I remember this diorama. It impressed me as well when I visited this museum some years back.
Impressive by its sheer scale.

I saw it to, I spend 20 minutes taking pictures of it. In fact, the whole diorama is split up in (i think 5) sections, from the start till the end of the attack. I you like, I'll post some of those pictures.
