So now that my slat armour project is nearing completion with only the rear corner panels and the side 'skirts' (Update to come tonight) I need some help with the colour of the Stryker. Any suggestions for brand and colour code would be appreciated. I have numerous photos from the net and the variation in the green base colour is huge...from a light green to a very dark green.

Hey Nick,
I was told Model Masters Forest Green was the closet match. That's the only one I know of. I however did mine in a few colors...It was painted in three colors, first Tamiyas Olive Green #XF-58, then sprayed and highlighted with Tamiyas NATO Green #XF-67. Lastly I sprayed MM’s Med. Green #4734 in the panels centers and edges.

It looks a bit off due to the picture setting, here's how it looks now.

Looking forward to be seeing yours
Joe

CARC Green 383 is the correct color for the real thing (FS34094). I have not bothered to see what model paint will work best yet.
Joe, I like your Stryker. Nice choice of gear and other stuff.

Thanks Guys.
Joe, your Stryker looks great! Where did you get the spare tyre?
Another question?
Any ideas on how to simulate the build up of dust on the upper face of the slats with less dust on the side and bottom?

Joe
Just looking back in time and I was wondering exactly how many Strykers have you built?
I particularly like the painting treatment on the packs, can you post a close up of those on the blog?
Great work , as usual.

Nice build Joe.
Actually real good.
So I guess AFV club Stryker?
Have you ever tried any of the Polly scale paints?
http://www.phoenix-model.com/paint_charts/Flo_Model.pdf
Or any of these railroad colors?

Sorry to get off track here but the question was which green and if you look a bunch of greens to choose from.

Vallejo and Lifecolor make paints they claim are matches to FS 34094. Check this thread for links to those paints that claim to match CARC Green 383 and a discussion

Hope it helps!

Talking of painting the Stryker, did any of these get painted a tan color for the modern desert wars?
I'm about done with my first build of a Stryker so I'm interested in the painting now. I'll post some photos of the build when it done but before I paint.

There was talk about strykers coming out of depot in kuwait back in 09 that were suppost to be painted in overall tan or at least this was the latest article in the army times and then even was a picture of some of them being repainted. I can't say for sure about this as I got of the army late 09 and the times were just full of talk as usual.

There were only a few (2 or 3) that were painted sand in Kuwait as an experiment. The Army didn't like them and decided to leave the rest in green. I think the test ones have now been repainted green again.

Why is it that every other US vehicle currently over there is tan but the Army didn't like the Strykers in anything but green?
Granted that once in service, they are covered in dust and tend to blend in but if you are going to paint every MRAP, truck and humvee tan, why is the Styrker the sole exception?

Gino I figured that was the case as most of the styker guys I was friends with didn't even know anything about new stykers being painted tan. It figures they would leave them all green since most of the strikes were made at night/ predawn hours at least that was the case with in my unit. Other than that, I can't figure out why the styker would be the only vehicle still in green, maybe it's just more cost effect to leave them all green instead of repainting them at depot level.
