Hello Gents,
I will be travelling to IWM Duxford on Aug 11th, will there be a chance that any regulars from MAFVA Cambridge will be around? Maybe there would be a "friend of a friend" at the museum to get into to back area Been a few years since I was there last, luckily we have friends right in Duxford to stay with.
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Unfortunately you miss the Cambridge branch MAFVA meeting at Duxford by four days!
I will be away on holiday for two weeks so will not be around to "help".
Cambridge Branch Rep. Steve Schwab does work there occasionally as a volunteer, try to catch him on Steve Schwab
E-mail Address(es):
[email protected]
The other option is to ask Simon Beckwith if he will be around. Simon runs his own Model Emporium down the road at Barton, almost opposite the rifle range just outside Cambridge. He is also a volunteer at Duxford and a font of information on various AFV's having crewed Artillery types.

I work on the basis that if you don't ask you don't get. The worst they can say is NO!
One other point, if it is quiet (ie no screaming kids about)and you ask the duty person (they wear red pullovers, used to be called warders, now its a bit more PC), quite often they are happy to let you skip the ropes for "That photo". Most of the blokes who work there appreciate being consulted, and are usually bored rigid.

Thanks for the info Paul. I don't want to impose on anyone, but like you say, It doesn't hurt to ask. I'll try getting in touch with one of those fellows you mentioned.
Cheers,
Jim
