Depends where you want your SF personell to operate. Nothern A-stan is full of mountains surroundering dry plains. Southern Afghanistan is more of a desert environment. I would suggest you put your SF figures together with some Northern Alliance figures and perhaps a T-55 or something simular.

Here are a few examples

MW Northern Alliance UAZ-469

Alanger Mujahedin

I don't know what kind of budget you are working on, but Pro Art makes a very nice conversion for the Tamiya Humvee.

A buddy of mine was a Ranger connected to the 82nd AD. They served for a year in central Afghanistan. Lots of dust. The mud buildings there crumble during fire fights. There is a picture he sent me a couple years ago showing their humvee sitting inside the shell of a building in order to ambush enemy supply trains. They used the 'high back' hummvees and his particular truck had a Mk-19 launcher and he stuck his M249 'SAW' off the back of the turret. The picture is stuck at home but i will see if i can get it to you. Basically look for some rubble and dust. If it is a mountain operation add some snow!
