Hi everyone,
I am working on a diorama right now with U.S. and German Infantry soldiers. I have never had matching paint problems before, but for some reason I do now. All I need is help with the painting of U.S. Infantry, I seem to not even be able to come close to the right colors. I use Academy, Windsor and Nuton, Liquitex, and some other brands of paint. Can anyone help me match the correct colors? thanks so much
David.

Some more info on what figs you're painting might help. US uniforms changed pretty dramatically from the 1941 uniform to the 1943 uniform, plus there are variations in items like overcoats, mackinaw, etc. Neither the USA nor Germany wore just one uniform throughout the war. A little more specificity might get a clearer answer from those who can help you here.

David, American WWII uniforms did indeed go through some changes, but the olive drab wool items of the uniform remained pretty much the same. I like to use either Polly Scale, or Testors Acrylic Field Drab for the wool trousers, shirts, and scarves/gloves. Testors Sand is a good start for the lighter shades of the early M41 Field Jacket, the leggings, and some of the web gear. Testors Olive Drab and Green Drab are good for the helmets and can be used to tone/darken the Sand base coat on field jackets, leggings, and web gear. The boots are brown. Polly Scale Dirt is a good start for this. HTH, Dave
