I bought it and it looks good, but have no idea how to paint it. The cover pictures shows everything painted pale blue but that can't be right! Is there a website for old telephone booths?

Tom,
Dude, come on, where's your researching and imaginitive talents?
Try a Google search....I did one for you and found tons of info on phone booths...have you never seen the classic red phone booth?
The Custom Dioramic's two different sytle of phone booths are European style.
The one you have is CD6060....the more classic looking one is CD6059.
How do you want to place it?......Which conflict? What timeline? Where?
Paint it however you want...artistic licence if all else fails.
They look like really good additions to a diorama.
Do some searches based on how you want to use it.
Check these links...

Thanks, and here's a link for you guys:

I admit I bought the booth because it was a bargain, to be used when I have a specific idea for it. I already do for the Custom Dioramics gasoline pump I bought (I was unhappy with the Azimut one): a scene from John Toland's book on Hitler, where he descibes the 1936 Anschluss where German forces drove into Austria, and tanks had to refuel at commercial gas stations.

The perfect item for a Clark Kent visits London vignette.
Ever wonder where superman put his clothes when he changed? Did he wear his superman suit under his Clark Kent suit? Where did he store the Clark Kent suit while out and about fighting the foe? Seems he had a newly pressed suit in every phone booth.

The red telephone boxes (booths) indicated in the links are a UK item only.
On a quick search on the web brought up the one you have, CD6060, which is an octagonal design, certainly not seen as a GPO box of the period you are talking about. This stands for General Post Office which the telephones came under along with the postal service.
I think, and I'm only surmising, that telephone boxes were painted in bright colours to stand out and easily be seen so users could spot them when needing to use one.
Remember is is in a time when no mobiles existed, and indeed many people did not own a phone in their home and used public call boxes.
In the UK we did have some not painted the standard "pillar box red" such as green etc. but this was in sensitive conservation type areas were they didn't want such "vulgar objects" to stand out from the surrounding area such as old buildings or natural beauty spots.
Of course internal ones in hotels etc. could be made of anything and normally styled to match the internal decor.
You'd need to search for some Austrian telephone references.
Sounds an interesting diorama concept, the 1936 Anschluss.
Happy Modelling
