it was me! At the monthly IPMS random drawing. Got me the Dragon Sherman Vc Firefly (#6121) and cost me a whole dollar. One can never have too many Shermans. :-)

Cool - I've read good things about that kit - should be nice to build!

I have read that there are several iterations of the DML Fireflies, do you have a quick run down of the differences? British specific vehicles are not my specialty.

BTW, it is my 8th random drawing kit in the past 12 months--started the streak by winning the Tamiya Leopard 2A5 in a Kithobbyist.com random drawing last April. Since then the list goes:
Accurate Miniatures P-51 from Model Expo May 01
Accurate Minitaures P-51A from Kithobbyist July 01
Zvezda T-60 BAYCON random drawing Nov 01
Esci T-55 BAYCON random drawing Nov 01
Tamiya 1/16 R/C Tiger from Kithobbyist.com Dec 01
AFV Club M-10 Wolverine random drawing March 02
DML Firefly random drawing April 02

I must be doing something right, but this is getting spooky...

Cookie's review is a good one to go on building the kit.

I'll be logging off the Forum this weekend - I'm leaving tonight for Tamiya Con 2002. Perhaps I'll run into DrewGimpy down in Los Angeles...

The Firefly kit is great, but the three-piece individual track links will take about a month to build! And congrats, by the way. Maybe you should try buying a lottery ticket.

Hi Rob,

Congrats! you might want to take a look at the A/A update set. I used that on the Firefly & it really enhances and fills in some areas. I'm hoping to post some photos of theTrans kit and a few mods I made. on the host kit. No big deal just enogh tweaks to make it interesting.

BTW,

Has antone looked at the introductory photo in the Building Dioramas book, by Shep Paine; Here's the booby question which Diorama does he cite?

Cheers

Now for the million dollar question: "Guess who did NOT win any models?"

Wow! Rob u r one lucky sun of a gun Buy me a lottery ticket wouldja?

I purchased the DML Firefly kit recently.

There is a Firefly book that has just been released by Barborossa Books sp? but here is a link to the authors web site:

http://freespace.virgin.net/shermanic.firefly/

Maybe you can glean something from there. I am debating whether to purchase the book, I know it isn't readily available here in Canada and I have yet to read any reviews.

Mebbe someone could point me to a bookseller in North America?

I guess I could buy the book from the publisher (in the UK) and review it for the site and in doing so enter the contest

Congratulations Rob,

at least you won something useful... I won a couple of kits at the Nationals here in Holland but all I got was a Revell Colonial Viper (now WHAT am I going to do with that!?!?!?), an Arii Al Hussein SCUD-missile launcher and a Revell 1/72 Avro Shackleton MR.3 (ex-Frog, I think). All worthless if you ask me. Now I would have loved to win that Firefly.....
Oh well, story of my life.....

That Viper is a highly sought after kit. Add the Millenium Models cockpit and landing gear sets or the launch rail and add the seated male or female pilot. I've seen some very outstanding work out of these kits. The other 2...I did get some of the Arii 1/48 missile kits like all 4 Patriot kits and one Scud type kit. I agree they are garbage. I don't know about the plane.

The IPMS raffle table contains over a dozen kits and some of the kits up on the table were the Skybow WC51 Beep, Alan Pz II Ausf C., DML T-34/85. Other types of kits are Tamiya Bf109, Skyray, MiG 15, some Hasegawa planes a couple of cars, the Polar Lights Jupiter 2. Might have been some ships and helicopters. They call out 2 numbers each meeting and the winners get to pick a kit. I made the beeline for Sherman, the first number called was an aircraft guy. If I win next month, I can't decide between the Pz II and T-34/85.

Hey there Major, Colonel, General Rob. The big game down here in Georgia is up to 115 million, would you be willing to go in a buck or two with me. We wouldn't have to ever work again. Congratulations on another winner. Just remember to stop at 12. The one after that could be really really bad. I've been out of the net for awhile and have alot of catching up to do. Hang in there pal, your doing great. But be sure to look both ways before you cross the street, you never know when that luck will run out. Chris. :-)

Hey Jim, you might as well get the big black magic marker out and write "SABOT" all over the grand prize. Sounds like ole Rob is on a big streak. Good luck with the contest, I think it's great that your doing something like this. Keep up the most excellant work. Chris.

Michael Jackson doesn't think so, but then what has he ever done for modellism? What has he ever done, worthwhile period!

Jack, cut me some slack
