Here's an update on my figure diorama. I've decided to expand the intial plans on how it will finally look. Instead of just one soldier overlooking his fallen comrade in arms, I've decided to add a few more. My goal now will be to depict soldiers from varous eras. The unpainted one will be representing the present. He will be painted in desert camouflage uniform. Another era I would like to depict is around the civil war. This figure if I can find one will be a US Union Soldier holing the US Flag. ANy idea where I could find a good detailed Color Bearer of the Civil War era?

THe URL for all the updated photos is http://train.missouri.org/~emgeer/Soldier.htm

Here's 2 updated photos

I like your concept here... I have often thought of doing a Shadow Box display of the main uniforms of the US Army from the War of Independance through the Desert Storm era.. using a figure in the SAME pose - perhaps an officer saluting... of course, I'd have to add in a CONFEDERATE officer for the Civil War period... we had 3 officers, 1 NCO and several enlisteds in my direct lineage who fought for the Mississippi 6th Infantry!

Two things:
1.) This looks a lot like a vignette I did in the late 70's using three Airfix 8th Army multipose figures which I titled "Requiem for Tommy". The main differnce is the fallen guy had already been burried and was represented by a mound.
2.) http://www.milminwh.com/shen_2.htm " TARGET="_blank"> http://www.milminwh.com/shen_2.htm The first guy in the list is a Confederate, but he's American, too. A very nice sculting with a choice of kepi and bearded head or clean shaven with slouch hat.

Ignore the green tint to the artwork, the uniform is blue and the sash is more likley crimson for a lieutenant.

Thank s guys, for the comments and Colonel AJLaFleche for the links. I went there and found a decent looking Union Color Bearer.
