Hey boys,

I finished my big project that took me 2 years to complete. (im sure you've all seen it...) Now i've started a little work on the next one, and BAM!!!!, the motivation is gone...
I think about building/ painting all the time, and ive always got ideas. But thinking about another long haul project and the time its gonna take, (but thats what we do..) i feel a little burned out?? Break time??

Do what I do when I feel burned out -try a different genre. Pick up a Sci fi kit and build it out of the box. It works wonders for me.

Been there, done that.

The best thing (I've found) is to either change topics or pick something easy and small that'll go together quick. Hell, a 222 painted grey is a quickie fix....

Honestly think that you need a subject change or a "doh" kinda build OOB...It really does help set the mind, relax it, and prep you for future focus'.

Really HTH!!

Hi Ziggy

Pat, and Mike have it right. If you have just spent two years building one piece, your creative senses and your motivation need a break. Pick up a simple, easy to build, kit. Something with no aftermarket P.E., do no research for it, and just build it out of the box.
Sometimes we try so hard to get better with every build, that we forget why we started building in the first place. We, and by that I mean all of us, enjoy building something out of nothing. As a result we need to get back to basics. To go oob. It does not have to be perfect. It does not have to be a jaw dropping show stopper. Its's just a afternoon spent recharging the creative spirt. Relax, very soon you will find yourself thinking, I will just open one hatch, or make this little correction. Then before you know it, without even trying you will be locked into another two year project.

You could try making a list with everything that needs to be done on that stuck project and complete one of the steps during a modeling session. This makes you focus your main goal and it's quite motivating to see you're advancing with every step you cross.

I feel the same way. I only have a little more to go on my first dio, but I can't find the motivation to get it done. I find that I'm always thinking about my next build (Accurate Minature's SBD-3 Dauntless) and whether or not I'm going to get a PE set for it, etc. My Dad says that I'm like him in the sense that, If it's not perfect, I don't like it.

As mentioned the best thing I find after a big project is to do a small basic kit either OOB or with few corrections, something that won't take long at all, will still look good when its done and leave you yearning for more when complete.
2 years on one dio is a helluva long time, do something that takes a couple of weeks and the sense of completion will have you smiling in no time!
