Hi
I was wanting to know if the fg42 bandolier that they wear over there shoulders for ammo are black or greyish as seen on the dragon boxes
The figure I am doing says they are olive green and camo colour. He will be from the Monte Cassio 1944 time frame so he will have desert yellow pants on.
Any help for colours would be great.
Thankyou

I have seen both, the black/dark grey and those made from the splinter pattern camouflage worn by the Fallschirmjager. so i'd say whichever you fancied would be fine.
Cheers,
James

As James quite rightly said, the bandoliers came in various colour schemes. The way i would look at is to take the following in consideration:
1) Often equipment had limited supply within the German armed forces particularly as the war raged so it was very possible for men from the same units to have varying equipment, particularly in Italy where many different units operated all needing supplying.
2) Also take to mind what the individual soldier would do, I.e. if you were going to paint his smock in camouflage maybe for better concealment a soldier would go for a camouflaged bandolier as it would not stand out just same applies if you paint his smock in the standard olive green colour then a camouflage pattern would stand out to much.
3) when i paint figure i tend to take 1 and 2 into consideration and plus any historical evidence i can find, but most of all i go with what feels right for that figure and what looks best when tried out.
so i would suggest deciding on his smock first then try different styles against and see what fits.
hope this helps

Hello Paul,
the FG42 bandolier I know only at camoflage (Luftwaffe pattern!) issue, however, means not that a fieldgray version or maybe a "Luftwaffen blue gray" version dosen't existed. A black or dark grey is not evident to me.
cheers
Isidor
