I have a 1/48 P-61 and I am thinking about doing a dio of it.
Does anyone have any ideas other than mine? I was just going to have it sitting on an airfield under the sun.
Thanks!
~Chip

Here's an idea.......
The P-61 was a night fighter if I'm correct. Why not just hang it from the ceiling and turn the lights off?

Chip,
I started the Monogram P-61 a couple of weeks ago - I have the first step done #:-)
The instructions gave me great hope and inspiration that there was a great deal that could be done with it. Lots of assecories and details etc. To bad I don't have shelf space for a 1/48 scale AC diorama. Mine is destined for a cloud oriented diorama.
On that kit there are lots of panels that can be left off and hatches that can be opened. I might suggest something with the nose opened and the radar being worked on by one of the flight crew. Afterall this was the first radar oriented designed night fighter. The flaps are pretty straight forward you could cut them out and drop them for detail. You could take one of the engine cowells off and show off the engine, have another crew working on that.
Another thought that would be kinda cool. Have a night mission just getting under way. Go with a night color scheme - black. Have the crew beginning the flight deck check. Have a crewman pulling chalks, another directing traffic. The night aspect can come into play by having a couple of rice size mini lights around the tarmac lighting up the area. This would give the illusion of night time.
Anyway just some thoughts.
