I was thinking about doing something different. I have seen lots of Pzkpfw III/IVs, Tigers and panthers, and Love em to death, but my heart and soul rests in early stuff. I think that I am going to try a 222, but was wondering how good (or bad) the Tamiya kit is (I know its cheap) and what kind of AM stuff is available for it. Any advice would help greatly. Thanks.

The Tamiya 222 is one of those old kits that just keep holding it's own over time. It's a pretty good build with nice fit and detail, but as with everything that's 20+ years old, it can benefit from some PE and a new barrel. Eduard makes a very nice PE set for it (#35115). For an early war version, you've got to get Jordi Rubio's 2cm KWK30 barrel (TG-21). You'll pay more for those two AM upgrades than you will for the kit but hey, at least you don't need new tracks for it too!

You might have difficulties to find the Eduard PE !
The Jordi Rubio cannon is easy to find.
It's funny to see how well this little model sells ! Each time it is reissued, the model shops that receive the kits sell them very fast !
