Hey everyone, I'm starting on a street fighting dio, 18" x 18" . The scene will be this: The driver of the tiger tank momentarily lost control. My tiger tank will be partly smashed into a building. Two german soldiers are taking cover behind the tank, a bit farther out into the street, another soldier has taken up a firing position with his machine gun behind a stack of crates. Finally, behind another soldier will be running for cover behind the street. Here is the basic idea, with the black lines representing where the buildings will be, the rest will be a cobblestoned street.
yes, I know that the tank is a cheap piece of plastic, and that the two painted figures are badly painted, but they are some of my first 1/32s that I have painted.
I need an opinion, I like the general idea, but I don't love it. I show a scene, but doesn't seem to really tell a story. Any ideas on how I could make this scene a bit more interesting?

I know what you mean, sounds good but when you see it on the street it asks for more.
Here is what I would do, I would have the T2 'stuck' behind some rubble, crashed building.
Also I would change the 'stuff' the MG guy is behind. The neat tiddy boxes and barrels indicate that they have made a dug in position there in the middle of the street which doesn't follow the story.

Hi,
Just a few quick observations here.
I think the dio may be to big for the action you want to show.
With the large building front (far into the dio) you are forcing yourself to either a huge pile of rubble or an interior.
Maybe ad a sidewalk along the house. What is supposed to be on the opposite side of the street?
Hope it helps
Claude

With the advice the others have given, this should turn out very nicely - just a lot of building to go!
I don't know who the enemy is (Commonwealth/US/Russian etc), but you could design the dio on the idea that the Germans are fighting an Allied rear-guard defence, and that stack of crates was positioned by the Allies.
Have some Allied abandoned equipment placed there - and the crates are back in the dio!
BTW, who makes those crates?
HTH,
Harry

@ slodder: I planned on making the tank stuck in the rubble, maybe I didn't make that clear, thanks though
@claude: I think what I'm going to do is model the interior of the buildings as far as the dio base goes and then stop. On the opposite side of the street will be another building, and the irregular patches in the middle of the the street represent rubble piles.
@david: I don't have any other figures that will work at the moment, so I'll just have to work with these
@harry: sorry, I don't know offhand, but I'll check out the site of the store I bought them from, and see if I can find the name of the company.
Thanks, and more suggestions are welcome, as I probably won't start construction for another day or two.
