Hi All,
I don't know if anyone's tried this before but I came across it almost by accident while trying to figure out how to do the best job on a Sherman's turret.
I'd filled the cap and was thinking of a way to replace the cast texture that sanding had removed.
Then it hit me
I found an old brush and cut the bristles down very short, and then spread 'Tipp-ex' correcting fluid over the area and stippled it with the brush. Worked like a charm.
A very quick and easy fix.
Just thought I'd share.

Yep, I cut a cheap nylon brush down to 2mm and use it to stipple Mr. Surfacer 500 for the same effect. Works great to make rust texture on mufflers too.

The only thing you have to mind with any of the add-on materials is that they bond adequately to plastic. Mr. Surfacer's solvent provides a reasonable bond to Styrene, althuogh it is only fair to resin. I might suspect that some of the more enviro-friendly correction fluids might be water based and, thus, have more trouble sticking to plastics.
Just something to consider when picking such a material.
