While waiting for my AFV Club kit to arrive so I can start my next conversion, I decided to play around and build something that will correspond to real life military development ( at least try to). So I came up with this build:
This is my version of a build that 'Could-have-been'. There are many variations of radar command units that exist today, with already existing wheel & track vehicles, offering their chassis as accommodation for their radar support systems. Many radar systems can be deployed easily to areas in less considerate time making it convenient for defense purposes. Using already existing vehicles & converting them, keeps the cost down.
This particular build was inspired by several radar mobile & command units, like the Gero h3, M4 Bradley, Shilem & the AN/TPS75 radar.
The Chassis is a modified M270 taken from the MLRS Revell kit. The radar infrastructure, storage box, extra antennae (on the front side of the storage box), support & walk platform braces on top of the driver compartment & air control unit on the back of the M270 hull, with small details are all scratch built. Since the AN/TPS 75 already exist I decided to upgrade it a little calling this the 'M270 AN/TPS 75s Mobile Unit'.
I believe a similar system can be combined together but if it would be feasible; that would be another question.

Cool! Once in a while it is ok to see a "what if" build. I guess you can fool most people whit this one. Do you have any pics of it without paint? The only thing I don't like is your new type of base. Your vehicles deserve a nice piece of terraine.

Thanks. Yeah, Iknow. Most people do not like that I have changed display bases. This not a perminent thing for me. I do have plans for scenery display bases but for now I wanted a change. I know I'm not going to make everyone happy but it's good to try something different at times.
Unfortunately I did not take any photos as this build was not so important, it being a 'What if' . My next build, Stryker ATGM, will be WIP.

Looks pretty good. The US Army actually tested a radar mounted on an M270 chasis. Unfortunately, there was too much vibration and the radar kept breaking. Good concept though..

Thanks a lot guys. BTW, Joe, I did not get your email. I was wondering what had happened. Please send it to me again.
Jeff, my next project is the Styker ATGM.

Another awesome build! I really like your models because of all the complexity and "eye candy" involved, not to mention the thing looks realistic even though it's not. A stellar job!

You've done a bang up job on this baby. I have to agree with the others. If you hadn't mentioned it was a 'what-if' subject I would have believe it did exist. Nice job man. You seem to blow me up everytime I see your new build. Now that ATGM stryker you mention you have started on, I would appreciate some WIP if you don't mind Pretty please with sugar and spice
A great build charles.

I like the deatail of the "romoved" tow cable coil. Nice touch.
I can't offer you any more bigger flowers than already offered above. Another great piece.
I'd also like to see the WIP shots

Thank you ti. Will be looking forward to the Stryker ATGM WIP. Now that will be worth waiting for. Are you going to add the new slat armor that Edward is releasing soon?

Great job as usual Charles. Always a joy to see what you are doing.
Do you have any WIP of this build, the AN/TPS-75s? Wondering how you built up the radar section and base.

Sorry Jacques, I did not do any WIP of the vehicle because it was just an experimental project. sorry.
Jason, I will not be adding any slat armor. Can't be bothered. I'm not a patient modeler. I like to think that I am.
