Hi Andy,
Nice work, they look a little too broad to me but I don't know much about US webbing kit so I may be wrong. I think the leather would be a much deeper brown from the few pics I can remember seeing.
The figs look very good, but a bit shinny. That could just be the pic and flash etc.
Better wait on some US experts, the cut of them looks excellent though very nice work there.
Cheers
Al

I think Alan is right. They look a little too wide. However, I'd say awesome job so far!

I really like the jacket of the guy in the second picture, and i'll leave the straps question to the experts

WWII US rifle slings are pretty heavy leather - about 1/8" thick. So, the way they hang looks just right. They do look a little wide but otherwise they are good.

Here is a link of some pictures of the M1903 sling for the M1 Garand. As you can see, there are several shades of brown to an almost tan. The black one is modern. The M1903 sling is 1/8" thick & 1-1/4" wide.

Here is a link of some web Garand slings from WWII, and a diagram of how it attaches to the rifle.

This is the only link I've found for the BAR sling:

I think your slings look great. Maybe a smidge wide, but great detail. What did you use to make them?

Thanks guys
These slings are real easy to make! - so ill make some thinner ones with two buckles. I made them using an aluminium buffet tray "cheap from supermarket" and fuse wire. Ive painted them the same colour as webbing gear, maybe olive drab would be better. From the pics ive seen leather ones were a different style. heres a great place for help on making slings, the idea for swivels works and looks great. www.timelinesforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=26778#post26778

excellent job Andy. I agree, the straps look alittle wide. But, leave them alone. Once there in a dio, I think it will balance them out. The men look great. Keep up the good work!
