My pleasure
Same here with the MBT but I will make a Type98 instead of a Type99. I think the 98 look's better
Did you find some good pictures of the Type99? Must say that the Chinese stuff is quite rare on the Net.

Hi everyone,
once I had this kit and there were white metal parts included.
They were for the turret rear plate, the turret rear plate hatches and the cal .50 MG.
With them, you can show the ammo in the turret rear by open hatches.
Greetings, Nils

@Nils: Thanks for the info. That explain why there is pictures with the .50 and opened ammo doors on the instruction sheet. Heller probably reboxed the kit without the white metal parts. No real big deal if you don't care about the ammo doors and the .50 can be source from another kit (like the Academy U.S. Machine Gun Set)
@arkuo14: Just gave a look at your thread in the scratchbuild forum. I may be tempted to buy another Type98 and make the conversion

My own humble attempts at a remedy. Haven't touched it for several years though.

Hi all,
if I may jump in, there are many flaws in this kit as many of you have already written. But it's still buildable with good references. (I have some pics in my personal site)
I sent Arkuo some "dead website" pages of a scratchbuild updating project (in French). Concerning the tracks, the kits ones are not that bad but you can replace them with Phebus resin ones. They are of the new style with the modified sprockets and will suit any AUF1 running along a Leclerc !
A new brand fanatic-dioramas (available at http://www.fanatic-hobby.com) is still working on a release of metal tracks. The company direction claim they will be far cheaper than any Friul set. Will see.
The newer AUF1 that Frenchy spoke about is externally quite identical to the "older" version. In fact, this is the digitized howitzer. That changes a lot for the crew but not that much for a modeler

Thanks (Merci)
Interesting stuff in that article. This, with all the other pictures I was able to find on the Net, should be of great help when the time's come
