Yesterday I had a first run of Vallejo clear matt on my M47. The hull turned matt, but the turret turned gloss. I'm thinking to use Dullcote. Any suggestion on how much it has to be diluted?

Can't really say for sure about the dilution, but Testors has dull coat in a spray can that works really well. No mixing and cleaning. Just point and spray..

I ususally mix 25 % thinner when the bottle is new. As it ages, and the carrier starts to evaporate a bit, it may need an increase to aboout 50%. I use plain old paint thinner from the hardware store and this has served me fine for 20 years.

Just like John in the above post - I always dilute Testors Dull Cote. I dilute 50% with Lacquer Thinner.
Also, if you spray the stuff on, undiluted and full-strength, and get the white frosting, you can clear this problem up by misting on clean Lacquer Thinner over the offending areas. Go slowly and be careful, but you can recover from this problem too.

My question is:
do you do the same with Humbrol matt varnish or is there an other way for that. I want to spray a later matt varnish over a tank. Is the diluting method the same as with the normal humbrol enamel paints???

Thanks everybody for the prompt answers. As soon as I read Al's post I headed straight away to the local hobby shop and got Dullcote. I diluted about 50% (you never know if the products are exactly the same everywhere) and sprayed it on the turret, that in a few minutes turned to a perfectly matt finish. The funny thing is that hull & turret base coats and washes were just identical, they dried for abot 48 hours, and when I sprayed the Vallejo matt acryl on it on the turret turned gloss and not on the hull. Any Idea about the possible cause?
