hey,
quik question on the M3 Lees/Grants,did the british ever use this vehicle ,with the dust / sand skirts off? It's seams that all of the pics,I've come across, have the skirts on.
If they where left off, would this leave, bolt holes, running down the entire length of the hull

Joe-- while I cannot recall seeing any M-3 Grant in the desert photo books without the skirts, I could envision that vehicles lost them. A broken track could have damaged the skirt as could moving too close to rocks or average maintenance. In all these cases the skirt, IMHO, would have been torn from the mounting leaving a rreside of metal along with bolts out and pulled from the chassis.
Hope this helps

hey,
Thanks DJ! I've gone threw quite a few books, and all I've come up with ,where M3's with there skirts ,while in British service, personally, I find the Sherman's without the skirts, better looking ,but if British command, ordered the skirts to be used, then I'd use them. After struggling with that Verlinden Pak 43/41,I went deep into the shelve, and pulled out Tamiya's M3,I know is got issues, but all I was looking for was a simple build right now.

Hi Joe
Looks like the only way you could build a Grant without sandshields is one being unloaded fresh off the boat from the US, painted OD, one of the few used for training in the UK, or one like this out in Burma.

I like the three layers of track on the front, not seen previously.
