Im building an M1097A2 in the troop transport varient and adding some Hardox 400 armor plates based on a photo on page 18 of Concords Humvees in Iraq. I cant see anywhere how the plates are actually fitted to the vehicle, ive seen on other 'Guntrucks' that the plates are just welded to the existing cargo area side struts. The M1097 im building basically looks like an M998-I bashed Verlindens M998 conversion onto Tamiya M1025, im just stuck on how to accuratly fit the Hardox plates, I dont want to just stick them on the model and not worry about accuracy.
Any help much appreciated!

Most were either welded or bolted on, or had hangers that were welded or bolted on the inside.

There are some pics in Tankograd's "Armored and Guntrucks of the US Army in Iraq" that show M1097 and M998 with Hardox 400 plates bolted on the sides .

Frenchy-yer ive got that book too, the M1097A2 with the plates fitted and all the troops in the back is the one im building, so are the Hardox plates just bolted on then? I cant seen any blots on the plates-what would they be bolted to? The lower body of the humvee? The Troop compartment side panels?
Because im adding the side panels to the troop area like on an M998, im just stuck on where the hardox plates actually fit to this. Ive found some pics on the net of some guntrucks with plates added but none show clearly how the plates are held in place.
edit-heres the troop carrier version, were are the points were the armor would be bloted or welded on this?

Judging by the location of the visible bolts, I would say the lower body
BTW, one of Irocarmy88's Webshots photo album shows a M998 fitted with Hardox panels that appear to be welded on the body :
