Hi
Yet another Humvee build im working on, this time an M1097A2 with added Hardox armor plates. The M1097A2 is basically an increased load armament carrier seen here built as a troop/transport version. Its Tamiya's M1025, the troop carrier conversion is an Old Verlinden M998 conversion, Pro art Humvee interior details, Pro art SINCGARS and finally a few etch details from Lionroar. Ive scratch built lots of smaller interior details such as crew heater and many of the details under the dash. The hardox plates are made from plasti card based on some pics in Concords Humvees in Iraq book.

Still a fair way to go, the plates are just temporarily stuck on, and I still have to add a M240B mount and some more fine details.

Your build is looking quite good so far! Have you decided how you will attach the Hardox plates to the Humvee? Will they be bolted on or welded?

Rob you just can't kick the habit can you? Well at least you are succumbing in style; this is a great humvee. I will definitely be keeping an eye on this.

Rob
Very comprehensive photo documentation, and a nice clean build. I am building a HMMWV at the same time so I searched your build for details and found a few I had missed. What PE set are you using? I see your set is brass and my Eduard is a stainless colour and yours has a few things that mine does not.
I'm watching this build closely I look forward to your updates.
Bill

Thanks for the comments guys! Jeff-Ive tried other models I promise, I just cant keep away from them humvee's, this is my third in progress Humvee

Lucas-The Hardox plates will be bolted to the lower body of the Humvee.

Marcelo-Yer, the plates will be the rusty colour. Im going to try and handpaint the markings seen on the Hardox plates

William-Im pleased you like my builds! If you need any pics of stuff drop me a PM and I'll try sort you out with some pics and stuff I have on my PC of various Humvee builds. Have you tried the tech manuals for reference?

The etch I used is from Lionroar, is basically identical to Eduards but does include a few little extras. Its better in my opinon than eduards as the metal is tougher! As you can see ive added a fair few small details. Thanks for those two pics you posted aswell-I needed one that shows the gun mount, so thats real useful!

If helps, you can try to make the markings with a tooth stick or a needle deeped in white paint. The Hardox lettering are made in dots, just like the old matricial printers

I used this technic on my Big Foot and the results were accpetable.

Bye and good luck!

I'll check out Lion Roar, I have never noticed a HMMWV set. These two pictures I'm sure you saw are compliments of Marcelo. I checked out your other HMMWV's and they are very impressive builds, so I look forward to this one too. I have only seen the manuals that this forum used for "Humvee's start your engines" are those the ones?
I'll send you a PM.
