Hi,

Saw this kit at my LHS a few days ago. It is half the suggested retail price. I never heard of NIMIX before and wasn't able to find some info about this kit on the web.

Any info about the quality of the kits from that companie or about that kit in particular would be appreciated.

For those who wonder what I'm talking about here's a link to the kit.

I'm pretty certain that you'll need the Heller AMX-30 base for this kit. I've never seen a Nimix kit in person but some interesting subjects.

Thanks Paul

The NIMIX is a complete kit and not a conversion. However it seems that the lower hull is indeed better replaced by the Heller one.

There is also a convesion kit from Terre Modeles wich use the Heller kit as a base.

I have one of these and you have to be a die-hard resin-lover parts-repairman to really enjoy it.
A lot of work will be save by combining it with a Heller AMX-30 (the tracks are just as bad in both kits so there is no improvement there....)
I'm not saying it is a bad kit, it may have been improved since I bought
mine 10 years ago but it isn't a top-notch kit and if you are not prepared to spend a lot of tender loving care on it I'd say stay away from it.

You can try to contact with M4 Models, I think they have the tracks for the AMX 30

Thanks Robin,

Any chance you could post a few pictures of the model?

I don't have a digital camera and I won't spend analog film on it.
I haven't built it, need to be in the right mood first ......

I found the tracks on a page with this heading:
GALERÍA DE PRODUCTOS TERMINADOS
Thanks for the link though, there was some other interesting
stuff, under Novedades ....

I think that Nimix reference is old and not so good. If it´s half the prize and you can see the resin first it may be a not-so bad option if you want to built a Roland.

Nimix first releases had many problems with bubbles and soft detail... last kits are much better; some molds have been improved.

About m4 is a small company, with great detail for what I have been told and able to see. Thay have a nice Centauro -Spanish version with improved frontal armour. They offer of Spanish vehicles is quite tempting.

regards,

Antonio

Thanks for all the info guys

I'll see if I can have a look inside the box on my next trip to the LHS and then decide if it's worth it.
