I'm trying to finish up my M113A3, but for the life of me I can't figure out where the exhaust is. Does anyone know?
In addition, does anyone know if there is a black stain coming out of the exhaust, like there is with other moderns AFVs? My reference pictures don't show any such stains, but then again they also don't show the roof of the vehicle near the front, where I suspect the exhaust is.
Thanks for helping me out!

On the right front corner of the right engine grill....same place as all other M113s.
It has a cover and a small guard over it so it does not look like a curved tube exhaust.
I take it you are building a US M113A3 and not a Canadian M113A3?
There will be very minimal if any exhaust staining...more likely rust covered exhaust piping from the high heat.
Check photo #23 on this walkaround of a US M113A3.

Thanks, Jason! No wonder I couldn't find the exhaust--I usually look for telltale black smudges. Now I know what that do-hickey up front by the grills is...

No problem.
Ah yes...all those do-hickeys....I sometimes take for granted that others that build AFV models have also spent time of real life AFVs and would know all the big and little parts of modern vehicles...that's what makes this hobby so interesting.
Post some images of your M113A3 when you get a chance please.

If the vehicle runs on petrol, you more than likely wouldn't find a whole lot of black exhaust staining. I mean your car doesn't (shouldn't) throw out black exhaust smoke. A diesel powered 113, however, would leave behind some black deposits - but these haven't been used for quite some time, IIRC

All M113s since the A1 model have been diesel. Only the original M113 had a gasoline (petrol) engine.

D'oh! I knew I'd get the 113 variants around the wrong way.
