It's about done - at last. I need a small Union Flag that I will most likely buy at a model boat show in September and the other markings that I need to experiment with stencils first.

I got the Futaba F14 wired up so things work in the right order and on the correct sticks, even the lights work now.

The main gun has full recoil and all sounds are working too, so I am a happy bunny.

Actually this is not a kit, well, not all of one anyway.
The model uses the Tamya Leopard chassis and turret base, both of which had to be hacked about quite a lot. The rest is scratch built by lil ol' me....
I used 1 and 2 mm plastic card, plastic tubing of all sorts of diameters and some large bore brass tube for the gun barrel, several sizes that fited inside each other, but even they they had to be packed out with paper to get the right size.
Tamya spray light sand (now withdrawn for some odd reason) for the colour.
The model is based on one in some pictures I have and is dated at the first Iraqi war.

Total cost about £1000, I think that's about $1800.

Hi Angela!

WOW ... I totally missed this thread! Your work is amazing & clean and I for one really like the Chally over the Leo any day! How long have you been into armor and scratchbuilding?

Well, keep up the great work and show us more soon!

Thank you for those few kind words good sir.

This is the first scratch tank I have built, but I have made quite a few scratch and kit large scale ships, so I cut my modelling teeth on those.

More? Maybe not. Life has just handed me a really bad bummer so I have lost all interest in practically everything.

Not really, my husband is dying of a horrible form of lymph node cancer.
It is truly awful being here watching it progress and not being able to do anything about it.
We have never been apart in twenty years so last week when he went into hospital was the first time.
But I never expected this diagnoses and it is tearing me apart.
I just hope he doesn't suffer too much through it.

I'm really sorry to hear about your husband's illness. My heart goes out to both of you. I cannot imagine what you both are going through.

Alan died on 4th October after a short and painful stay in hospital.

It is terribly lonely now. The model obviously did not go to the show I had intended as its first outing and at present I cannot see when that event may now be.

Perhaps, with time....
