Upon making my first 1.48 tamiya tiger early i decided i liked the simplicity of these mid sized kits after making variouse other 1.48 kits ive decided to make a blog of this one.
Upon inspection the parts are very crisply molded and even the sprue attachment points are good they are so small.
there s no etch in the kit the only metal part being the one peice hull.
The kit also comes with 4 british figures as a bonus.
The decals are kinda thick and the tank will require alot of glossing up to hide the clear bits.
More as i make it.

Ok here is the progress so far...
I got to work on the upper hull im going to leave the tracks untill near the end the wheels have been asembled and will be painted seperatly.
Work began fitting the front and rear Glacis(?)
and the tow hooks.
The airfilters where out on. The upper hull does not neet glued onto the
Chasses as it's attached by two screws.
the fit is pretty much flawless.
And ive started on the best peice the turret.
(these dam photos show up the mistakes real good)

I agree with you about the photos. I was shocked at what I could see when my little model was suddenly so huge on the computer screen. Course it certainly helps you catch things you may have otherwise missed. Good luck with your build.

Nice build - I did the Italieri 1:35 one, but it looks like Tamiya got it more right in 1:48 ...
Funny that tamiya brings out kits in 1:48 they never approached in 1:35 ,... dang.
Keep it comming!
Cheers/Jan

Hmm! That looks quite smart David.
I've never tried anything in 1/48 but... Getting tempted.

A question on the interior color. I would think it would be flat aluminum paint which was the more common color.

Sorry this blog has kinda stalled because when i was painting the tank i put on some johnsons kleer (future) to gloss it up for the decals and the whole tank went very very dark so im guna have to repaint it.
So its kinda droped down the priority list at the moment.

Looks really good to me, bummer to hear about the darkening of the color once the future was applied. Looking forward to the next update, keep at it!
Cheers!

Ok i got inspired again and repainted the model with a mix of OD and Green Yellow.
Then hit it with the Kleer/Future.
Decals where then applied.
The identification star on the top was made of i think five decals and was a real to place them all.
Lots of micro sol was then applied to make the dam things mould to irregular spots like weld seems.
Not overly hapy with the result but i will touch it up with some insignia white.
Any who...
Pis are taken at night with a flash was my only option.
Still they dont look to bad for a 5 second job.
Coments welcome
David.

Im pleased with the result but the floor wax made it go very dark.
And i put alot of it on but the tamiya decals refuse to become one with the tank
Any way after loseing one of the crew to the land of god knows where and the decals almost making me give up.
Here she is.
